Every project in BriefSpec starts with a few key decisions. This guide walks you through creating your first project from start to finish.
Step 1: Navigate to the Projects Page
From the Home dashboard, click Projects in the left sidebar. This opens the Projects grid showing all your active projects.

Step 2: Fill In Project Details
Clicking Add Project opens a four-step wizard. Step 1 — Project Details — is where you define the basics:
- Project Name — Give your project a clear, recognizable name.
- Project Type — Select from Implementation, Enhancement, Integration, Migration, and more.
- Category — Billable, Internal, Maintenance, or Research.
- Client — Required. Select the client organization this project belongs to.
- Priority & Execution Status — Set priority (Low/Medium/High) and initial status (starts as Draft).
- Project Template — Choose a template that defines which modules and structure your project will have. RTM – All Modules is the most common for implementation projects.

Step 3: Scope, Team & Settings
Steps 2 through 4 let you set the project timeline, add team members, assign roles, and configure project-level settings. You can adjust all of these later from inside the project workspace.
After Your Project Is Live
Once created, your project appears in the Projects grid and in your Recent Projects list in the sidebar. Click into it to open the full workspace — with Backlog, Phases, Test Cases, Boards, and all the tools you need to deliver.
